30 Killed in Kano Trailer Crash as Governor Yusuf Orders Free Treatment for Survivors


At least 30 passengers have reportedly lost their lives in a tragic road accident involving a trailer at Kwanar Barde in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The accident, which occurred early Sunday morning, involved a trailer heading towards Gujungu. Reports indicate that the crash was allegedly caused by reckless driving, leaving many others with serious injuries.

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the families of the victims. His reaction was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Governor Yusuf described the accident as heartbreaking and a significant loss, not only to the bereaved families but to the entire state.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and asked Allah to grant their loved ones the strength to bear the painful loss. He also wished a speedy recovery to those currently receiving treatment in hospitals.

In response to the tragedy, the governor directed the Kano State Ministry of Health to ensure that all injured victims receive immediate, free, and adequate medical care across designated hospitals in the state.

He also instructed the Office of the Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs to promptly assess the situation and recommend support measures for the affected families.

Governor Yusuf further urged motorists, especially drivers of heavy-duty vehicles, to avoid reckless driving and strictly comply with traffic regulations to prevent similar accidents in the future.
