Lagos APC Raises Alarm Over ‘Internal Saboteurs’ Fueling Rising Terror Attacks

Calls for Probe Into Insider Complicity, Backs Tinubu’s Security Strategy

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a strong warning over what it describes as a disturbing pattern of insider collaboration contributing to the recent surge in terrorist attacks across Nigeria. According to the party, the increasingly sophisticated nature of these attacks indicates that certain individuals embedded within the country’s political and security structures may be aiding criminal elements.

In a formal statement released on Saturday, the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, expressed grave concern that classified security information was being leaked to violent groups, thereby compromising ongoing counter-terrorism operations. He alleged that internal saboteurs were supplying terrorists with sensitive operational intelligence, weakening strategic response mechanisms, and deliberately undermining national security efforts.

Oladejo argued that the emerging pattern of violence suggests more than random coordination. Instead, he described a worrying trend that points to deliberate betrayal by actors who should ordinarily be safeguarding the nation. According to him, the precision of recent attacks—particularly the attackers’ awareness of troop positioning, abrupt disruptions in security checkpoints, and the timing of assaults near politically sensitive periods—strongly signals insider interference.

“These are not isolated occurrences,” Oladejo stated. “They reflect a troubling degree of treachery from individuals determined to derail our security architecture. No ordinary criminal group should have this level of detailed access unless they are being guided from within.”

The APC also accused certain political figures of indirectly aiding terrorists by amplifying their propaganda and attempting to weaponize the nation’s insecurity for political advantage. According to Oladejo, some opposition actors appear more interested in discrediting the government than supporting national stability, thereby inadvertently empowering terrorists with narratives that weaken public trust.

The Lagos APC maintained that only insiders with privileged access could enable the kind of coordinated breaches witnessed in recent attacks. The party therefore urged the Federal Government to initiate a comprehensive investigation into alleged internal collaborators within the security and political establishments. It also called for swift prosecution of any individual found to be working against national interests.

Despite its concerns about internal sabotage, the Lagos APC emphasized its full confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The party said the current administration has adopted a far more assertive and intelligence-driven approach to fighting terrorism, noting that several recent operations reflect a renewed determination to defeat violent extremists.

The statement further applauded the Nigerian Armed Forces for their resilience and professionalism, even in the face of what it described as sabotage by “a few bad eggs” within the system. Oladejo stressed that the majority of security personnel remain dedicated to defending the nation, and their commitment deserves recognition and public support.

He issued a stern warning to individuals allegedly aiding or abetting terrorist activities, declaring that their network of betrayal would soon be exposed. According to him, those working against Nigeria’s security architecture will ultimately face justice, as the government intensifies efforts to trace, isolate, and dismantle insider support systems.

“Nigeria will not be brought to its knees to satisfy the ambitions of saboteurs or external interests,” the statement concluded. “No amount of internal betrayal will derail this country. Nigeria will overcome the current security threats, and our people will prevail.”

The Lagos APC called for national unity, vigilance, and cooperation with security agencies, urging citizens to remain resolute and trust that the ongoing reforms will restore stability and peace across the country.
