Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has officially defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor was formally received into the APC on Friday in Jos, where the state party chairman, Mr. Rufus Bature, presented him with his membership card.
Speaking at the event, Mutfwang described his decision as one taken in the overall interest of Plateau State. He assured residents that his administration would remain inclusive despite the change in political affiliation, and urged the people to remain united.
Describing his defection as a “journey of faith,” the governor expressed confidence that Plateau State would benefit from the alliance. He acknowledged the existence of skeptics but appealed for patience, noting that time would validate his decision.
Mutfwang also sought to reassure those who may be apprehensive about the move, calling on them to take courage and embrace cooperation for the progress of the state.
The governor expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing him a platform in his political journey, stating that his move to the APC would further motivate him to deliver quality leadership.
He also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his deep affection for Plateau State, and pledged his support for the president’s re-election bid in 2027.
