I Have Not Defected, I Remain in PDP — Senator Henry Dickson Clears the Air

Former Governor of Bayelsa State and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Henry Seriake Dickson, has firmly denied reports suggesting that he has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement issued on Friday through his media aide, Ajiri Daniels, the senator described the reports as false, misleading and unfounded, stressing that he remains a committed and loyal member of the PDP.

Senator Explains Silence on Politics

Senator Dickson explained that he has deliberately stepped back from active political engagement due to the recent death of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo. According to him, the period of mourning has been devoted to receiving condolence visits from friends, political associates, leaders across party lines, and well-wishers from different parts of the country.

The statement noted that the visits, which have cut across political affiliations and social backgrounds, should not be misconstrued as political consultations or signals of defection.

Monitoring Political Developments

While acknowledging that he is closely following political developments nationwide, Senator Dickson stated that no decision regarding his political future has been taken. He assured that after the burial rites, he would consult widely with friends and associates across the country, and any decision reached would be formally communicated through his verified channels.

Reaffirms Loyalty to PDP

The Bayelsa lawmaker emphasized that he remains a key leader within the PDP, expressing optimism that the party would realign itself with its founding ideals and continue to play a significant role in Nigeria’s democratic growth.

He urged party members, supporters and the general public to disregard the defection rumours, describing them as fake news aimed at misleading the public.

Senator Dickson advised Nigerians to rely only on information issued through his official and verified communication platforms.
