The All Progressives Congress (APC) has wrapped up its 8th National Convention at Eagle Square, Abuja, producing a new National Working Committee (NWC) through a consensus-driven process ratified by thousands of delegates.

Nentawe Yilwatda emerged once again as the party’s National Chairman, while Surajudeen Basiru was elected National Secretary. Other key appointments include Felix Morka as Publicity Secretary and Dayo Israel, who retained his role as Youth Leader.

In his acceptance speech, Yilwatda described his re-election as a renewed call to serve, pledging that the new leadership would not “fail or falter” in its responsibilities. He emphasized unity and collective effort in strengthening both the party and the nation.

The high-profile gathering attracted top dignitaries, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors, lawmakers, and over 8,000 delegates.

Addressing the convention, Tinubu acknowledged the challenges facing the nation but insisted that his administration’s reforms are already yielding results. He pointed to increased investor confidence, renewed foreign interest in the oil and gas sector, and Nigeria’s improved global financial standing.

The President assured Nigerians of progress in critical sectors, especially electricity, noting that ongoing policies such as the Grid Asset Management Company would improve power supply and support industrial growth.

He also praised Nigerian youths, describing them as the nation’s hope for a brighter future.

Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, commended the administration’s policies, describing them as bold steps laying the foundation for long-term economic stability and prosperity.

Similarly, Minister of Finance Wale Edun highlighted signs of economic recovery, noting that growth has strengthened from about 2% to nearly 4%, signaling renewed stability and confidence in the economy.

The convention underscored the APC’s focus on consolidation, reform, and positioning the party for future political and economic challenges.
