Primate Ayodele Calls for Amotekun’s Disbandment, Warns That the Security Outfit Now Fuels Banditry

Renowned Nigerian prophet and spiritual leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has issued a strong prophetic warning to the federal and state governments over the growing controversies surrounding the South-West security outfit, Amotekun.

In his latest revelation, the man of God declared that Amotekun, which was initially created to defend the region against rampant insecurity, has become a breeding ground for corruption, extortion, and banditry. He urged the government to scrap the outfit completely, warning that it now poses a greater danger to the society it was meant to protect.

“The government should cancel Amotekun. They have become corrupt and now encourage banditry. They are no longer reliable. Scrap them completely,” Primate Ayodele declared in his prophecy.

When Amotekun was launched in 2020 by the South-West Governors’ Forum, it was celebrated as a landmark initiative to address the region’s persistent security challenges including kidnapping, herdsmen attacks, and highway robberies. The outfit, formally known as the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), was expected to serve as a community-driven force complementing the efforts of the police and military.

However, in recent months, the outfit has come under heavy public scrutiny following a wave of allegations ranging from misuse of power to complicity in criminal activities. Reports from various states have highlighted cases of harassment, unlawful arrests, extra-judicial killings, and bribery. In some local communities, residents have accused certain Amotekun operatives of working with the same bandits they were deployed to fight.

These allegations appear to align with Primate Ayodele’s warning, which suggests that the moral and operational foundation of the security network has been compromised. According to him, the current system is “no longer transparent, accountable, or trustworthy.”

For those familiar with Primate Ayodele’s track record, this revelation is not an isolated prediction but part of a long-standing pattern of prophetic warnings concerning Nigeria’s internal security. Over the years, the spiritual leader has repeatedly sounded the alarm about corruption, infiltration, and mismanagement within regional and national security structures.

In 2023, he warned that state-backed vigilante outfits could become political tools or extensions of criminal networks if not properly monitored. His prophecy cautioned that once local operatives begin to abuse power and collaborate with wrong elements, the same agencies created for protection would eventually “turn against the people.”

Current developments seem to mirror that warning almost perfectly. Several human rights organizations and civic groups have recently called for a comprehensive audit of Amotekun’s operations, citing reports of internal power struggles, illegal detention centers, and missing funds. In Ondo and Oyo States, for instance, residents have accused some officers of extorting motorists, detaining citizens without trial, and engaging in armed clashes with rival security formations.

Primate Ayodele’s latest message does not merely condemn it also offers a solution. He called on both the state and federal governments to conduct a complete overhaul of the regional security architecture and replace Amotekun with a more transparent, technology-driven, and community-accountable model that works hand-in-hand with the Nigerian Police Force, DSS, and Civil Defence Corps.

He emphasized that true security reform must begin with character, training, and oversight, not just funding or political showmanship. According to him, “Nigeria’s problem is not the absence of security structures, but the absence of sincerity and accountability in those managing them.”

Security experts have echoed this sentiment, stressing that while regional security outfits like Amotekun were created with good intentions, poor leadership, lack of coordination, and political interference have derailed their mission. Without immediate reform, they warn, these agencies could degenerate into uncontrollable militias, further worsening insecurity in the country.

Primate Ayodele’s prophecy comes at a crucial time when confidence in regional security outfits is rapidly declining. Nigerians are increasingly questioning whether these groups are providing safety or deepening fear. His warning serves as both a spiritual and civic reminder that the fight against insecurity must not be politicized or corrupted by personal interests.

The man of God concluded by calling for national reflection and divine intervention, urging leaders to prioritize truth and transparency above politics and regional pride.

“Let the government rise now and review Amotekun. They have done more harm than good. If care is not taken, they will turn into another terror group. Scrap them before it becomes too late,” he warned.

As Nigeria continues to grapple with rising insecurity across all regions, Primate Ayodele’s prophetic voice once again resonates as a warning and a guidepost calling leaders to confront the uncomfortable truths behind the systems meant to protect citizens.
