Anambra Decides 2025: Soludo Maintains Strong Lead as INEC Nears Final Collation

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is close to concluding the Anambra State governorship election following the collation of results from 19 out of 21 Local Government Areas, representing 99.39% of total results uploaded to its IReV portal as of 5:15 a.m. today.

Preliminary figures indicate that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), is in a commanding lead, positioning him for a potential re-election victory.

According to data released by INEC, APGA has so far polled 389,789 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) trails significantly with 91,592 votes. The Labour Party (LP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) follow with 10,366 and 1,230 votes respectively.

The state collation centre is expected to resume proceedings by 6:00 a.m. to announce results from the remaining two local governments and possibly declare the final outcome.

Election observers have noted that the process was largely peaceful across most polling units, with improved voter management and prompt transmission of results via the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal.

If the current trend continues, Governor Charles Soludo appears set to secure a resounding victory, reaffirming APGA’s long-standing dominance in Anambra’s political landscape.
