Fayose Meets Obasanjo in Abeokuta amid PDP Reconciliation Talks

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Sunday, held a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State, fueling fresh political discussions about possible reconciliation moves within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Fayose arrived at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), where he was warmly received by Obasanjo’s aides before proceeding to the former president’s private residence for a meeting that lasted over an hour.

Though the details of their conversation were not made public, insiders described the encounter as a “private visit,” coming at a time when the PDP is intensifying efforts to rebuild internal unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

Fayose, known for his outspoken political stance and history of criticizing both state and national authorities, has in recent weeks emphasized the need for southern leaders to foster collaboration and unity in preparation for future political realignments.

The meeting has since generated widespread speculation, with analysts suggesting it could mark the beginning of a new political understanding between both influential figures and signal a broader reconciliation effort within the opposition party.
