2027 Will Not Be Business as Usual — ADC Declares as Party Unveils New National Headquarters

Party Accuses INEC of Using Anambra Election as a “Rehearsal for 2027 Rigging”

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has sounded a bold warning ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that the coming polls “will not be business as usual” for political actors, electoral institutions, or those who intend to manipulate the process.

This assertion was made on Monday during the official unveiling of the party’s new National Secretariat Complex in Abuja a development the ADC described as the beginning of a new chapter in its mission to reposition itself as a formidable and credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and opposition parties.

Addressing party stalwarts, stakeholders, and journalists at the inauguration ceremony, ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, declared that the unveiling of the new headquarters represents much more than a change of address. It is, according to him, a symbolic rebirth of the party’s values, vision, and political culture.

He noted that the ADC was now fully committed to a political ideology grounded in competence, integrity, discipline, and genuine public service traits he insisted are lacking in the current political establishment.

“Let me be clear: from this moment on, this party will no longer operate like others. This is not business as usual. Every step we take, every policy we pursue, every leader we present will reflect character, courage, competence, discipline, and integrity,” he said.

Mark emphasized that the new complex would serve as the intellectual and strategic hub for rebuilding the party and grooming a new generation of ethical, visionary leaders.

“It is from here that strategies for the 2027 elections will be crafted. It is here that ideas will be refined and where the next set of leaders who will truly serve Nigeria will emerge,” he added.

He called on party members across the country to bury internal differences and unite under a shared vision, insisting that the ADC is now entering a “new era of discipline and national service.”

Speaking on the party’s performance in the recently concluded Anambra governorship election, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, described the election as a “dress rehearsal for 2027 rigging.”

He argued that the anomalies witnessed in the Anambra poll were a clear indication that Nigerians must remain vigilant ahead of the next general elections.

“The Anambra election had largely been concluded before our coalition came on board, so it does not represent our strength. But beyond that, it was a dress rehearsal for what those in power want to do in 2027,” Abdullahi stated.

He stressed that the ADC is prepared to resist any form of electoral malpractice and will not allow the 2027 elections to be manipulated or predetermined.

“Nigerians should be ready. ADC is ready. 2027 will not be business as usual. We will resist anything that undermines the will of the people,” he warned.

Abdullahi also dismissed rumours linking the ADC’s new complex to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, clarifying that the building’s history has no bearing on the party’s decision.

“Atiku has absolutely nothing to do with our move here. This was purely an ADC decision,” he said.

He further revealed that the ADC has managed internal disagreements through fairness and justice. Several states have already established interim transition committees to coordinate activities ahead of congresses and the party’s non-elective convention.

He announced that nationwide membership registration and validation will commence next week, noting that the ADC is focusing on convincing Nigerians especially the youth that it is the best alternative platform.

“Nigerians are tired of the APC. They want a credible alternative, and our task is to show them that ADC is that alternative,” he said.

Responding to questions on the role of key coalition figures, Abdullahi confirmed that personalities such as Nasir El-Rufai and Peter Obi remain part of the party’s broader alliance.

“They have not withdrawn their support. Our coalition remains intact,” he confirmed.

The unveiling ceremony attracted several influential political figures, potential presidential aspirants, and party leaders from across the country. It forms part of the ADC’s ongoing nationwide rollout strategy, following similar launches in states like Kwara.

With its renewed focus, expanded coalition, and clear message to Nigerians, the ADC insists that the 2027 general elections will be a turning point one that the party intends to influence significantly.

As the political climate intensifies, the ADC’s bold declarations set the stage for what may become one of the most competitive and closely monitored elections in Nigeria’s history.
