Obi Cubana Declares ‘I’m a City Boy’ as Seyi Tinubu Presents Appointment Letter

Prominent businessman and socialite, Obi Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has confirmed his appointment as the South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement after receiving his appointment letter from Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.

Obi Cubana made the announcement via his official Instagram page on Tuesday, revealing that Seyi Tinubu paid him a visit at his residence on Monday night to formally present the certificate of appointment.

“Last night, my long-time friend and brother, Seyi Tinubu, paid me a visit at my home. We held great conversations about everything,” he wrote.

The Anambra-born entrepreneur noted that their meeting also provided an opportunity to deliberate on issues of national interest and the role of youth and private individuals in nation-building.

Addressing the mixed reactions that followed news of his appointment, Obi Cubana defended his decision, stating that meaningful change can only be achieved through active participation and engagement rather than staying on the sidelines.

“I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he said.

Reaffirming his commitment to the movement, the nightlife entrepreneur declared: “I’ve learned that influence is limited from the outside so yes, here we are! I am a City Boy through and through, inside and out.”

He assured supporters that his new role would not compromise his personal values, community efforts, or leadership principles. According to him, President Bola Tinubu embodies the ideals of the movement as “a City Boy and a man of commerce,” and his focus would be on promoting inclusiveness.

“All of us need all of us in order to achieve our national aspirations, and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do,” Iyiegbu stated.

He also urged Nigerians to embrace tolerance, respect diverse opinions, and remain focused on national development.

“Let’s respect differing views, keep conversations vibrant, and stay focused on building real value. The moment is now we move!” he added.

Obi Cubana concluded by thanking his supporters for their goodwill while pledging to contribute to a more inclusive and progressive Nigeria through his new position.
