PDP Expels Wike, Fayose, Anyanwu and Eight Others Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

In a major shake-up within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the party has expelled several high-profile members, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, and the suspended National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu. The decision was announced on Saturday during the PDP’s ongoing elective national convention in **Ibadan, Oyo State.

The expulsion followed the adoption of a motion citing alleged anti-party activities, a move that signals the leadership’s resolve to restore discipline and unity within the party. The convention, which attracted delegates from across the country, witnessed heated deliberations as party leaders sought to address internal divisions that have troubled the PDP in recent months.

Under the leadership of outgoing National Chairman Umar Damagum, the party also dismissed Mohammed Abdulrahman, a factional chairman believed to be aligned with Wike’s political camp. This marks a significant effort by the party to dismantle parallel leadership structures and reinforce its constitutional authority.

Additionally, three prominent allies of Wike Imo PDP Chairman Austine Nwachukwu, Abia PDP Chairman Amah Nnanna, and PDP South-South Zonal Secretary Turnah George were expelled for challenging the convention in court. They had argued that the state congresses preceding the convention were not conducted in accordance with the PDP Constitution. Their expulsion underscores the party’s intolerance for internal resistance perceived as detrimental to its unity.

The purge did not stop there. Other national officers and influential party figures, including National Organising Secretary Umaru Bature, National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), Mao Ohuabunwa, and Chief Dan Orbih, were also affected by the sweeping disciplinary action.

The announcement was made public through the party’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle just hours into the convention, sparking widespread reactions within political circles. The development is expected to reshape internal dynamics ahead of critical political engagements, as the PDP attempts to consolidate its structure and reassert its position as a major political force in Nigeria.
