Terrorists Launch Attack on Catholic School in Niger State, Abduct Students and Staff

Tension and fear have gripped the Papiri community in Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State following a violent attack on St. Mary’s Catholic School, during which terrorists abducted an unspecified number of students and staff members.

The Friday morning incident has left residents devastated as authorities and church officials work to ascertain the full extent of the abduction. According to a community source who confirmed the attack, the school is still compiling the list of missing individuals.

“Yes, it is true, but I am not in a position to give details. The church will issue an official statement later in the day,” the source said, indicating that more verified information will be released after proper documentation.

This latest assault comes shortly after another heartbreaking tragedy in Kebbi State, where terrorists invaded a government school and abducted no fewer than 25 students. The repeated targeting of educational institutions has intensified calls for stronger security measures, particularly around schools in vulnerable regions.

As families anxiously await updates on the fate of the abducted students and staff, security agencies are expected to launch coordinated rescue operations to track down the attackers and ensure the safe return of the victims.

The attack on St. Mary’s School adds to the growing list of distressing incidents that continue to threaten educational stability and safety across the northern region.
