US Senator Riley Moore Denies Claims of Plan to Divide Nigeria, Reaffirms Security Partnership

United States Senator Riley Moore has dismissed reports suggesting that the United States is considering a plan to divide Nigeria, describing such claims as false and misleading.

In a statement released on Saturday, Moore clarified that although he recently visited Nigeria and held several high-level meetings with government officials, the issue of dividing the country was never discussed at any point.

According to the lawmaker, “the idea of dividing the country has not come up in any serious way” during his engagements in Nigeria.

Moore emphasized that any attempt to encourage separatist movements would further endanger vulnerable communities, particularly Christians in Northern Nigeria and the Middle Belt region. He warned that a destabilized Nigeria could strengthen terrorist groups and worsen insecurity across the country and the African continent.

“I remain committed to working to save the lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ, and indeed all Nigerians suffering from the instability caused by terrorist activities across the nation,” he stated.

The senator also highlighted the recent security cooperation agreement between the United States and Nigeria, describing it as a crucial step toward addressing violence and enhancing the long-standing bilateral relationship between both nations.

Moore reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting Nigeria’s stability, security, and unity in the face of ongoing security challenges.
