The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Committee (JCC) in Kano, has urged the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to refrain from embarking on another strike, warning that students should not be made to suffer for disputes they did not create.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the Public Relations Officer, Comrade Muddassir Hamza Dankaka, the student body appealed to ASUU and the Federal Government to adopt peaceful and constructive approaches in resolving their lingering disagreements.
According to NANS JCC, led by Comrade Yunus Halliru, repeated strikes have caused immeasurable setbacks for students who are already grappling with economic challenges and inconsistent academic calendars.
The group stressed that each strike action “hits hardest on children of ordinary Nigerians,” noting that every disruption widens the academic and emotional gap students struggle tirelessly to close.
NANS called for sincere dialogue, transparent negotiations, and responsible leadership from both ASUU and the Federal Government, insisting that the future of young Nigerians must be placed above all disagreements.
“Students must not become collateral damage in disputes they did not create,” the statement emphasized, urging both parties to adopt solutions that safeguard academic stability rather than deepen educational uncertainty.
