Sam Amadi: I’ll Back Tinubu If He Ends Religious and Ethnic Bias in Nigeria

Former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr. Sam Amadi, has declared his willingness to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if he takes bold action to eliminate religious and ethnic prerogatives in Nigeria.

Amadi made the statement on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, describing such divisions as major barriers to Nigeria’s unity, progress, and stability.

“Anyone who successfully removes the hold of religious and ethnic prerogatives on Nigeria, I will support that person even if it is @officialABAT,” he wrote.

The public affairs analyst noted that Nigeria cannot truly prosper or attain lasting peace while still trapped under what he called “neo-feudal and theocratic prerogatives.”

His remarks come amid renewed global attention on Nigeria’s internal affairs following reports that former U.S. President Donald Trump had designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern”, warning of possible military action if the government fails to curb religious violence and protect minority groups.

In response, the Nigerian government dismissed the claims, insisting that no religious group is being persecuted in the country and that efforts are ongoing to strengthen national unity and tolerance.

Amadi’s statement has since sparked widespread debate online, with many Nigerians commending his call for equity, fairness, and inclusivity in governance.
